💯 I think an HDMI splitter is the way to go here. They have high resolution splitters now so it's perfect to get lossless image quality. It'd be just one extra step.

I assume you're running a mic that is in your vr? You could potentially use a separate lavaliere mic and specifically capture that as your mic source while disabling your vr mic?

You don't need two screens. For capturing, you're just making the canvas of OBS double the size of a normal 1080p monitor. You put your computers display on half of that, then the other half is a camera that is full screen.

Why are you testing 20 fps? I'd love to see what tests you performed in determining this to be a bad capture card. Everything I did when testing showed great results for 1080p @ 60fps which is what most people try to stream at.

i am! It's good but the latest OBS update made it look like each HDMI input was an "ndi source"

Two options: one: there's a passthrough power port on the usb-c adapter I mentioned. This way you could plug a normal portable battery in with a cable. Two: get a case or something to use your wireless power charging to the back of your phone if it has it. My Samsung phone has wireless charging so as long as I have a wireless portable battery, I can just mount it to the back of it.

With this, you could record to your computer using this capture card and OBS Studio, THEN send it to a USB stick or SD card to have the file there if needed.

@@Activater does the obs studio sofeware come with the video capture when bought or do i have to down load it separately? Can i get obs to work with video capture card on a mobile or tablet

Yes. Choose custom sound, then select the capture card and it should be good to go!

I believe so. Not complicated though! Just add a "audio input device" and it may show there?

Good looks here Vixyua! 😎👍 I think I explain this in another video around this same time, but having a "loop through" option on a capture card allows for zero delay between input from your controllers to the screen. Otherwise it's a few milliseconds that you can slightly feel which isn't good for fast competitive shooters but probably fine for some platformers, RPGs, etc. A cheaper solution is to get another HDMI cable and a HDMI splitter. Same concept at a fraction of the cost. One HDMI goes to the splitter from the console, the two hdmi's out of the splitter to both the capture card for recording/streaming and the other HDMI for sending to your other monitor/screen.

In the display area where your gameplay is and all that, right click. Then mouse over to "Fullscreen Projector (Preview)". Then select your monitor.

You would connect another HDMI or display port from your gaming PC to your stream PCs capture card. Add the capture card in OBS on your stream PC. Then, in display settings on your game PC, you basically need to "duplicate" your screen of choice to your new "3rd monitor" which is actually your capture card in your stream PC. You can tell your game PC to mirror the display of your choice to another monitor so youre cloning it to that capture card as if it was another monitor.

Some options only open up at certain resolutions as well as some capture cards just don't have the option.

Interesting. This made me think for a second and before I go further, I just want to say thanks for watching! There are definitely tons and tons of cameras out there. But why use one over another? Everything comes down to situations that require a specific tool. I think if you don't need an automated tracking camera, then this camera isn't for you as it's main claim is tracking plus good image quality for live-streaming/recording. Technically the phone in your pocket is all you'll ever need for a camera. Why shoot a movie on a Arri, Red, or Sony, and not a webcam? Different cameras have different uses and I think this one is specific to being good at a lot, but not the best at one particular thing allowing it to be pretty versatile and opening up possibilities for people to get a lot of uses out of what it offers rather than just a camera that does one thing really well. Again, it comes down to what you need and it's purpose.

@@Activater your nickname is very interesting to me and resonates with me. I agree that there is no universal camera that will shoot everything. Each camera is designed for specific tasks.

It's a motorized slider. Check Amazon. However this one in particular was from Great Video Maker. (GVM is what you'll find them as) Easy to use system that costs anywhere from like $200-500 on the cheaper side. Just make sure the description shows that it can rotate the camera. So sliders don't have that option.

Basically I use a motorized slider behind my desk in this video. I've since changed it up but basically, in this video, I had about a foot between my wall and my desk setup. I then had two light stands that held the sliders track up with a camera on top of it so that it just looks over my monitors. I've since adopted a smaller slider that lives on my desk itself but I turned the motion off for UA-cam. (See any recent video of mine) Camera is a Sony A7s (first Gen) with a 35mm Rokinon lens.

For best results, is suggest record on your laptop with the capture card you have. Then use the HDMI out of the laptop for a second screen. However, id temporarily (while gaming on the switch) unplug that HDMI from your laptop and instead use the output from the capture card into that second monitor. You'll have full quality and zero delay for playing that way. However, if you're not playing a game like a shooter, I think using OBS to game on is a valid option. Just setup OBS and use "projector preview" to send your OBS screen to your second monitor and game from there! You'll have a slight delay, but we're talking a few milliseconds.

$79. The remote is rad and good for a more analog approach. I don't think it's necessary, but more of an extra perk and tool for a case by case situation. I think it'll be good for people that use these with OBS and want to be able to see their OBS screen and move the camera accordingly.
